She is the Filipino's equivalent to Wonder Woman, though she was not patterned after this famous heroine from Paradise Island. Darna appeared in local comics in 1947, and had seen numerous incarnations in movies and plays. She currently graces the local TV scene as a fantasy series. The above photo is a poster on a bus advertising the TV show.
