The green, green grass of home

CIMG0075
This nice patch of greenery can be seen at Burnham Park in Baguio City. Instead of grass, they now use this crawling vine with its yellow flowers sprinkling a bright color against a sea of green.

A tightly-wrapped Jo-lo

CIMG0048
Jose Carlos arrives from the Nursery tightly-wrapped after his early-morning bath. He looked like a kid from the Middle East, and the background (a sarong from Boracay) fit rather perfectly with his attire! He was 4 days old when this photo was taken.

Cinnamon bread from Star Cafe

CIMG0014
Freshly-baked, yummy cinnamon bread at Star Cafe in Session Road, Baguio City. Star Cafe is one of the older establishments in the city but they transferred from acress the street in the late 90s. This coffee shop was a popular place for politicians to have coffee and talk about ... well ... politics. I'm not sure if this is still the ambience of the place though in its relatively new setting.

Darna

darnaShe is the Filipino's equivalent to Wonder Woman, though she was not patterned after this famous heroine from Paradise Island. Darna appeared in local comics in 1947, and had seen numerous incarnations in movies and plays. She currently graces the local TV scene as a fantasy series. The above photo is a poster on a bus advertising the TV show.

For more information about Darna, visit Eric Cueto Presents Mars Ravelo's Darna Web Site.

barbecue stands abound the streets of Manila. They serve various, skewered things, from the gothic (blood cubes), to the bizzare (animal insides), to the regular (pork, fish). Your choice.
